Wragg Key to England's Ashes Success!!!
Former Player and 2005 Reserves Runner Jason Wragg has been hailed as a hero and one of the key's to England's Ashes Success. Wragg Joined the English team after some brilliant proformances for Yolla over the 2004/05 summer and after Cricket Australia failed to sign him. Wragg had instant success with England doing well with both the bat and the ball in the Natwest 1 Day series. But it wasn't until the ashes test series that Wragg really shone for the poms scoring a classy 45 (batting 9th) and taking 4 for 54 of 33 overs in the first innings of the 4th test. Wragg took another 4 wickets in the second innings and was the savior after a late challenge from Australia. With England winning the asses 2/1 Wragg is now celebrating hard (it has been said that he hasn't slept for 3 days and has more "Froffy's" than a table full of German's at Octoberfest). The good news for Yolla is that he will be back for the 05/06 season along with former english spinner Phil "the pill" Tuffnel.

Riley Flying high after successive wins!!!
Burnie Docker and greyhound trainer Nathan "Rowdy" Riley is flying high after yet another win from his owned/trained dog "Son of Coco". "Son of coco" has won its last 4 starts with the latest being that of the ROSEBOWL CLASSIC held in Geelong on Friday night.
Riley has also had success with his dogs "Gooseman" and "Turtle Dick" both winning in the last 3 months and young dog "Wraggy Kisser" also winning 2 out of its first 5 starts.

When asking riley what his winning formula was he said "Well what you have to remember is that they are dogs and what do dogs like to do, sh*g so I let them go at it when ever they want, it's also a good way for them to build up their endurance. I also feed them mutton birds once a week because mutton bird meat is really high in vitamins and minerals".

Riley and his dogs have been getting a lot of attention lately with high profile greyhound trainer Tony "Plugger" Lockett meeting up with riley to discuss training methods and maybe even taking over the training of some of Pluggers dogs. Also riley has been seen high rolling with Bart Cummings and it has been rumoured that riley is considering taking up Horse training as well.

But we will have to wait if we want to see riley training with the likes of Bart Cummings as he is heading of to the United States of America to race "Son of Coco" and "Wraggy Kisser" in one of americas richest greyhound races "The West Memphis Darby".

Former Docker Archer New WBA World Heavyweight Champ!!!
Former Burnie Docker Brent Archer was last night crowned WBA World Heavyweight Boxing Champion after defeating John Ruiz of the USA in 8 rounds. Ruiz who has held the belt since December 2003 thought that the man they call "Itchy" was going to be a pushover, claiming in the lead up to the fight that he was going to knock Archer out in the first 3 rounds, how wrong he was. Archer came out firing in the first smashing Ruiz with an array of devastating punches. Ruiz however fought back in the 2 nd and 3 rd and it seemed that he might well be on top of Itchy. However by the 7 th it was obvious Ruiz was all but spent and when Itchy landed a massive right hook to the face of Ruiz (which opened a 3 to 4cm cut under the champ's eye) the fight was beyond doubt.

Although the Referee didn't stop the fight in the 7 th , the 8 th round only lasted 33 seconds as Itchy again unleashed on the champ knocking him out with a swift uppercut to the chin. As archer received his belt he dedicated the win to mentor and long time friend Geoffrey "Rowdy" Rowdmiester who couldn't accompany Archer due to band (rock "n" roll) commitments.

Itchy's trainer Lacey "block and chain" Chatwin said although Archer was keen to return home to try and help the Dockers to their 5 th premiership he wouldn't be coming back till they at least complete their European tour.

2004/2005 Rumor Mill - Is it true??

Clinton "Clifton" Stretton is looking to take a year off football in 2005 to help restore "Peace in the middle East" after the death of Yassa Arafeit. After talks with both Tony Blair and George W Bush, Clifton is making a big push for the new Palestinian leadership role which he believes will help solve the war and land problems as well as increase his sales in Luxaflex on the Arab market. But what will this spell for the Dockers defense or more importantly the citizens of Burnie (as Stretton was the top pick to take over as mayor later in the year).

It was heard yesterday that Scott Matheson won't be playing with Burnie next year as he has taken a lucrative deal to go play with W.A. club the "Warnbarough Swans" apparently the swans have offered him and fellow Burnie fly in Jimmy "Pantsman" Matheson a 1978 Kingswood each as a sign on fee and 3 cartons of WA's finest "EMU BITTER" per game. It was said that Scott didn't want to make the move from the Dockers but was persuaded by life long friend Jimmy to take up the offer. Warnbarough is currently being coached Jeff Farmer's 2nd cousin Phil McCracken.

There has also been talk of a few new recruits for Burnie in 2005, Two "Special" players by the names of Brock Gardiner and Allan Vester have been rumored to have approached coach Errol Bourn keen to pull on the boots next year. Both Brock and Allan come from interstate, Brock owning a Vodka Distillery in NSW and Allan owning a Fudge Manufacturing plant in SA. Everyone looks forward to seeing these blokes around the club in 2005.

Stretton to run for mayor???

It has been rumoured that Docker Clinton "Clifton" Stretton will be running for the mayor of Burnie later this year. Stretton who wouldn't comment on the situation has been arriving late to training on regular occasions apparently late because he was off "doing a quote" .
It wasn't until his absence was investigated further that it was discovered that Stretton was actually secretly meeting with Burnie Alderman in a bid to gain in house support. Will Stretton run for mayor later this year? We'll just have to wait and see.

Matheson nominated in AFI awards for best short film!!!
Burnie Docker turned Director Anthony Matheson has been nominated in the 2004 AFI awards for best short film.
Matheson's film titled "The Love Police " which premiered at the recent Burnie Dockers Ladies Night was inspirational to say the least and showed off the talents of Matheson not only as a director but as an actor as well. It should also be noted that the exceptional performance by Brett Porter and support actors Jarrod "Jack" Wells and Mark "Edward" Edwards brought laughter and tears to all that viewed it.
Critics have been giving rave reviews with one well known local going as far as saying "Matheson is a genius, he might be a bit unorthodox in his methods but when he gets behind a camera it's just magic" and another not so well known saying "That Brett Porter is the best looking read headed ledge, hunk of a man I've ever seen ".
The sequel is rumoured to be in production, the title is still unknown but it's rumoured to have the latest adult film sensation Jimmy "Pantsman" Archer taking on one of the main roles.

Probert, Monk are Brothers!!!

Burnie Dockers Senior coach Nick Probert has been on cloud nine this week for a couple of reasons.
Not only his Burnie Dockers won their way into a 4 th straight grand final but Probert also found out a couple of days ago that he has a long lost brother, who is none other than US actor Tony Shalhoub or as most TV viewers know him as "Adrian Monk".
Shaloub recently found out he was adopted at birth and so started the hunt to try and find his real family.

Shalhoub after trying different avenues (with no luck) stumbled across Proberts Picture and Bio on the Internet (compliments of this site) and knew straight away that the similarities in their looks and personalities were to close to be coincidence.

It was then he flew down to Burnie to meet probert and under go DNA Testing to see if they were infact related. The pair was recently spotted together at the 2004 annual Dockers ball. Probert's comments on the matter were "it's just great to find out something like this after all these years, we certainly have some catching up to do but I'm sure there will be plenty time for that" . Shalhoub also said he couldn't wait for the NTFL Grand Final and would be their to support Probert and his team.
