1982 - Lee Breaks Cooee Games Record




On the last day of July back in 1982, one of the Cooee greats - Tom Lee broke the long standing games record for Cooee. Previously held by Harold "Tiger" Dowling with 263 games (set back in 1968) Lee played his 264th on the 31st of July, 1982 - against Wynyard.
 
Tom went on to play 300 games finally retiring in 1983 with 288 games for Cooee, in that time he also played in 3 premierships (1973, 1978, 1982) won the best and fairest three times (1978, 1979, 1982) was runner up 3 times (1971, 1975, 1980) and became a life member in 1979. Tom also Represented the state on 5 occasions and the NWFU on 7 occasions (288 - Cooee, 5 - Tasmania, 7 - NWFU = 300 Total).

Tom won the Wander Medal (league best and fairest) in 1979, and the Ovaltine Award (representative game's medal) in 1982.

If you are having trouble reading the stats Tom's were as follows - on the 22/5/1982 he had 36 kicks, 11 handballs, 26 marks and 22 hit outs, unbelievable stats which just shows how great big Tom was.
