Jnr Development Report - March 2009

This year I will be working as a full-time employee of the Burnie Football club with a role as Junior Development Officer. I am responsible for developing and promoting junior football around the Burnie area and as far as Penguin, King Island, Smithton and the West Coast.

After having played with the Burnie Dockers for the past two seasons and having been part of the junior development pathway and programs throughout the years, I am very excited in taking up this position. I am looking forward to not only assisting the development of junior footballers but also improve my own learning in a range of areas.

Separate to my role in Junior Development, I will also be coach of the Burnie Dockers under-14 team. I have had previous experience coaching children in school football teams and through working with the Active after School Communities Program in primary schools. I have really enjoyed being involved in assisting and coaching junior sportspeople and I am eager to improve my skills in a new coaching role at Burnie. Whilst the main focus of the year will be fun, I will work towards preparing the younger players for their pathway through the junior age groups and into senior football at Burnie.

My main goal for this year is to increase the number of junior participants playing football in the Burnie Zone. I will be implementing this goal by working closely with schools and Auskick centres within the region. Hopefully I can enable children who are new to football to become actively involved in the sport and enjoy themselves.

Thank you and I look forward to working with you throughout the year.
