Coaching & High Performance consultant announced

The Burnie Dockers are delighted to announce Paul Kennedy has come on board as a coaching and high performance consultant.

Kennedy is a former VFL premiership player, club captain and VFL team of the year selection, and is currently in his second season as a senior assistant coach with the Hawthorn-aligned Box Hill Hawks.

The former Sandringham, Sturt and Frankston player worked with the Dockers on their Melbourne camp in February, running a workshop on 'being an elite footballer' and conducting a review of the team and coaching staff during their practice game against Frankston.

"PK is a former teammate of mine and is one of the best leaders I played under in my career," Dockers coach Clint Proctor said.

"The workshop he ran in Frankston opened the boys' eyes to what it takes to consistently play at a high level, and resulted in our leaders now wanting to drive ongoing player evaluation using PK's format, which revolves around direct feedback from teammates.

"The review he carried out during our practice game was in-depth and line-by-line, confirming strengths and weaknesses we already knew about, highlighting some new areas and providing potential solutions to some of those issues. It was of genuine value for our players and coaching staff."

Proctor said Kennedy would continue this work throughout the season, reviewing the Dockers' performance via video and providing advice on the player evaluation process.

Kennedy said the impression the team made during their training camp made it an easy decision to have an ongoing involvement.

"The players' focus in the workshop showed me they are serious about being the best team in Tasmania this year, and the style of footy they played against Frankston showed they are capable of achieving that goal," he said.

"My role is just to provide an independent set of eyes looking at what Clint, the coaching staff and the players are doing, and providing feedback from a different perspective that hopefully helps the team go that little bit better than last season."

Welcome aboard PK!
